Our PACES courses have regularly been held at the Undergraduate and
Postgraduate Professional Education Centres at Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospitals and at Guys Campus in London.
Clinical stations
involve structured bedside teaching with an emphasis on technique and presentation. Teaching takes place in small groups of 1
lecturer to 6 candidates.
History
Taking and Communication Skills stations stations have 1 lecturer to 4 candidates.
Course timetable
Courses
commence at 8.30am and finish at 4.45pm. Each of the first three days comprises
four 90 minute sessions and a lunchtime demonstration of clinical examination techniques.
On Day four each candidate will be given a Mock Examination.
Mock Examination
for MRCPI candidates
For
MRCPI candidates we provide a Mock Examination in the MRCPI format, with a Long Case and Short Cases in place of the PACES
format Mock Examination, which is undertaken by MRCP(UK) candidates.
Candidates will be graded by our
Lecturers on the MRCPI mark scale, from 1 (very bad fail) to 6 (good clear pass) in the long case and in the short cases. Candidates must achieve a combined total mark of 10 or more to pass the Clinical section of the
MRCPI.
